National Carrier Gulf Air And TNT Express, One Of The World’s Leading Providers Of Express Delivery Services, Have Signed A Global Incentive Agreement Programme (GIAP)

The GIAP, introduced by Gulf Air in 2007, is designed to provide its key global partners with incentives to boost their cargo traffic volumes and reciprocally ensure that Gulf Air is endorsed as a ‘Core Carrier’ of its partners.

“Global incentive arrangements are a key strategy in building effective partnerships, especially when it comes to the air cargo industry,” said Gulf Air Director Cargo, Mr. Serge Tripet, “This agreement is a win-win proposition, as it helps both Gulf Air and TNT Express to complement each other’s business in a mutually rewarding way. Besides, the partnership will further strengthen the regional and global network capabilities of both organizations.”

The agreement provides access, for both Gulf Air and TNT Express, to permanent direct bookings, specific service-level commitments, service recovery plans and claims processing as well as regular interface with key account managers at headquarters.

“TNT and Gulf Air have had a long-standing business relationship and the GIAP will reinforce it,” said Ian Butler, TNT Express Director Global Networks, Americas, Middle East and Africa, “The Global Incentive Agreement Programme will ultimately allow us to serve our customers better, which is a crucial benefit in addition to the incentive aspect of the program.”

TNT Express provides a unique combination of on-demand, time-sensitive, door-to-door services with flights within the GCC, flights to Bahrain and around the world.

Microsimulation Traffic Modelling Specialists Announce United States Expansion

Braidwood Associates, the specialist microsimulation trafficmodelling consultancy, has announced it is to open a second office in the United States to enable it to expand its existing portfolio of clients.

Braidwood Associates was set up in 2005 by Scottish entrepreneur Richard Braidwood, and is expected to report a fourth year of income growth by the end of March. The company now generates up to 90% of its business from its US operations and the 34-year-old expects further gains with the announcement of Barack Obama’s new $787 billion economic stimulus package.

Mr Braidwood is flying to America later this month to finalise plans for his second US office, in New Jersey, to compliment his existing American base in California. In the last 12 months Braidwood Associates has provided traffic management advice through its modelling expertise to a number of major American infrastructure projects including New York City’s Bronx redevelopment and some of the world’s busiest highways such as Interstates 880 and 450 in California.

Mr Braidwood said, “We are in the fortunate position of having now established a specialist business which allows us to provide a high value service with maximum flexibility to some of the largest road authorities and private corporations in the world.

“I believe that we will open a further office in the United States this year and this will position us well for the expected progress of some key American infrastructure projects. The recent announcement of the multi-billion dollar stimulus package for the US economy by President Obama should deliver future gains for our American business and we fully intend to play our part in supporting the recovery through our specialist skills.”

He concluded, “While the majority of our business is US based we remain vigilant for opportunities closer to home and we still believe that the UK government has a real opportunity – particularly so now given the economic challenges the country faces – to generate its own stimulus by driving through infrastructure plans that will keep the country moving.”

In the four years since its foundation, Braidwood Associates has become one of the world’s leading independent microsimulation traffic modelling consultancies. Richard Braidwood has built a business that provides specialist services to 20 clients across the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia. The company is advising on traffic modelling for some of the busiest highways and most populated cities in the world. Additionally Braidwood Associates also works with partners on infrastructure development projects at hubs such as airports and stations.

Integrity Group US Names Distributor for 3 Commercial Vehicle Safety Products

Integrity Group US has been named by Mobile Awareness, LLC™ as a national distributor for three safety products aimed at commercial vehicle fleet operators at airports, the parking industry, health care facilities, hotels/resorts, car rental agencies and universities.

Slideshow image

The three products — TireStat™ TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system), VisionStat™ Camera Systems, and SenseStat™ Obstacle Detection Sensor System, – are designed to improve overall driving safety, while reducing costs.

“The tire monitoring product gives critical data concerning the vehicle’s tire pressure and temperature,” said Jim Newell, Director of Product Sales for Integrity Group US,” while the other two high-tech products make it easier for drivers to monitor through cameras or sensors the areas beside and behind the truck, van or bus as it backs up.”

TireStat TPMS The TireStat TPMS detects overheated, under-inflated, over-inflated and rapid leaking tires before a tire incident occurs. The TireStat sensors install directly on the tire valve stems and transmit the actual tire pressure and temperature to the display wirelessly. Alert levels are easy to set for both pressure and temperature for each tire. The sensors have an anti-theft feature and air can be added without removing the sensors.

“Properly inflated tires increase overall fuel economy, as well as enhance fleet safety,” Newell stated. He explained that a 20 percent under-inflated tire reduces tire life by approximately 25 percent. “This costs money,” he said, “but more importantly, it could lead to possible tire failure and a serious accident.” “The return on investment for adding TireStat TPMS to fleet vehicles could be as quick as 10 months, when you consider the fuel cost savings, tire maintenance/wear costs, reduced downtime, reduced liability/accidents and reduced vehicle wear,” Newell said.

VisionStat Camera Systems The VisionStat Camera Systems can help limit financial loss and legal liability by monitoring and recording events in and around a vehicle and eliminating blind spots to help prevent costly backup accidents.

The color camera system can be configured with up to four infrared night vision CCD cameras for front, side and rear mounting, available in wired or wireless setups. The quality cameras are easy to install, waterproof, rugged in construction and cost effective.

The 5.6” or 7.0” monitor includes built-in controls, automatic turn-signal or reverse views, switching with the direction (“backward,” “left,” or “right”) displayed on the monitor. The cameras are audio enabled so the driver can hear around as well as see around blind spot areas.

SenseStat Obstacle Detection Sensor System The SenseStat Obstacle Detection Sensor System is designed for commercial trucks with trailers, utility vehicles, and buses. The wired or wireless system is activated automatically when reverse gear is engaged. Drivers are alerted to objects behind their vehicles with both an audible and visual indicator (LED display) on the dash-mounted Warning Display Unit.

The four waterproof sensors are easily mounted on the rear of the truck or trailer. All zones are simultaneously displayed in real time, indicating the area closest to an object within one inch.
